Looking for People Like You - Volunteers are vital to
Medical Bridges to help us maintain a high level of service to communities abroad. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help in different areas of our operation.

Julie Hoffman-Ramos, committed to our mission

The Bank of New York Mellon staff members have been volunteering at Medical Bridges for the past three years. We had the pleasure of talking with Mrs. Julie Hoffman-Ramos, Vice President for BNY Mellon. Day in and day out, Medical Bridges’ volunteers pack around our sort room tables to learn the process of identifying, sorting and packing medical supplies. Julie Hoffman-Ramos commented, “I may be sorting and packing boxes, but I feel I am contributing in sending aid to someone in need.” We all know that volunteering is a choice, so we wanted to know what brought Julie to Medical Bridges. “I was looking for a volunteer project that would have some meaning for me. Living in the U.S. I feel extremely fortunate to have the medical care we have here. I feel the availability of medical care is a human right, not just for those who are able to afford it.”

Since its founding in 1997, Medical Bridges has relied heavily on volunteers for their time, talent, and expertise. The Medical Bridges staff strives to create an environment where volunteers want to return time and again. Julie told us that volunteering at Medical Bridges, “…gives me a sense of accomplishment. It is a rewarding experience for me. Medical Bridges is a great operation that does a great deal to help people worldwide.”

Volunteers are the life’s blood of the work that Medical Bridges provides to the medically indigent around the globe. Please consider volunteering with us. We live in a busy society, but because you cared enough to spend a few hours in the sort room you may just save the life of someone many, many miles from Houston. Many thanks to Mrs. Julie Hoffman-Ramos; to all of our BNY Mellon volunteers and to ALL the many volunteers who make our mission possible.
