Our Annual Gala Was A Great Success!
September 27, 2014

Many thanks to Honorary Chair Margaret Alkek Williams and event Chairs Kelli Cohen Fein, MD and Barbara Van Postman for sharing their expertise throughout nearly a year of planning. 
Over 300 guests attended the One People. One World. Gala on September 27th at the Hilton Post Oak.  The event grossed $250,000; proceeds will help bring much needed medical supplies and equipment to the medically indigent in the developing world.

Dr. Fares Albitar received the 2014 Dr. David Wray Volunteer of the Year award for his work with Syrian refugees of war.  Chevron was recognized as the Medical Bridges 2014 Corporate Honoree; Jitendra Kikani, General Manager for Reservoir Management for Chevron Africa and Latin America accepted the award on behalf of Chevron.  Drs. Mary Ann and Bob Wilkins were recognized as Medical Bridges 2014 Community Honorees for their support of charitable projects throughout Houston. 

Vice Governor Samuel Mobio, representing Governor Robert Mambé of the Abidjan District, Cote d'Ivoire, spoke to the value that Medical Bridges’ shipments bring to the people of his district. Photojournalist Catherine Clarke Murphy shared her personal experiences working in Africa for Mercy Ships and the Huffington Post for two years.
